Several models of Little Giant ladders were recently recalled due to a problem with their Rapid Locks. These locks allow users to adjust the ladder’s height, but they can cause the ladder to suddenly retract if they are not fully engaged, creating a serious fall hazard.
On November 5, 2026, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of approximately 3.66 million Little Giant ladders equipped with Rapid Locks. Meyers & Flowers recognizes that defective consumer products can pose serious safety risks, particularly when a malfunction can lead to preventable falls and life-altering injuries.
What We Know About the Little Giant Ladder Recall
According to the CPSC, the Rapid Locks on the affected ladders can fail to remain properly engaged if they are not fully inserted into the ladder rungs. If this happens, the ladder may suddenly retract while in use, causing it to shift or collapse unexpectedly.
Little Giant has received multiple reports involving the recalled ladders, including:
- 25 reports of ladders suddenly retracting, including 19 reports of injury
- Three reports involving serious head injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, skull fractures, concussions, vision and hearing loss, and cognitive impairment
- 16 reports of other injuries, including joint and bone fractures, lacerations, and bruising
- 39 reports of Rapid Locks not working properly
Which Models of Little Giant Ladders Have Been Recalled?
The recall affects approximately 3,662,000 Little Giant ladders sold between December 2015 and October 2026 that are equipped with Rapid Locks. The black or orange locks are located on each leg of the ladder and are designed to be inserted into the ladder rungs to adjust the ladder height. The recall includes the following Little Giant ladder models:
- Adjustable Fortress 2.0
- Conquest 2.0
- Dark Horse 2.0
- Epic
- King Kombo XT
- Leveler
- MegaLite
- MegaLite+
- Multi
- Quantum
- Vector
Ladders with the orange “QC” sticker located on one of the rails above the Rapid Locks are not included in the recall.
Affected ladders were sold at Lowe’s, Lowes.com, Costco, Costco.com, Amazon, LittleGiantLadders.com, and other retailers and online stores for prices ranging from around $100 to $1,000.
What Should I Do If I Own A Recalled Ladder?
Those who own a recalled ladder model should immediately stop using it until they have reviewed the recall instructions and contacted the manufacturer. More information can be found on the Little Giant website, by scanning the QR code on the ladder, or by calling Little Giant at (866) 201-9069.
Little Giant is offering repair kits containing additional warning labels and instructions. Consumers should follow the instructions, attach the provided labels to their ladders, and check that the Rapid Locks are fully engaged before every use. The additional instructions also explain how to maintain the locking mechanisms with lubrication.
If a lock continues to malfunction after lubrication, consumers should contact Little Giant for evaluation. If the lock still does not function properly after the evaluation, the company may offer either a replacement ladder of the same or equivalent model, or a refund.
Refund amounts will vary depending on the date the ladder was purchased. Refunds may range from a depreciated value determined by the purchase date up to the full purchase price for ladders purchased within the past 12 months.
What Can Injured Consumers Do After a Little Giant Ladder Accident?
Individuals injured in a ladder-related fall may be entitled to pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, rehabilitation costs, pain and suffering, and other damages. The value and availability of compensation will depend on the severity of the injuries and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Although the recall does not automatically establish liability, Meyers & Flowers can help investigate the circumstances of an accident, evaluate potential product liability claims, and explain what compensation may be available.
