Our eyes are one of our most precious gifts. When our eyesight is less than ideal, most of us seek help from a physician to correct our vision, allowing us to see clearly.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, over 45 million people in the United States wear contacts to improve their vision. Many of these contact wearers depend on contact solution to clean and disinfect their lenses so they are safe to wear.
If contacts are not cleaned and stored correctly, they may harbor harmful bacteria that can cause serious eye infections and even permanent damage. The solution used to clean and store your contact lenses must be of the highest purity and safety.
On May 15, 2025, Contamac Solutions, Inc. issued a nationwide recall of specific Nutrifill Preservative-Free contact lens solutions due to manufacturing quality issues. There have been at least 23 serious injuries from using the contaminated solution reported.

Why Was Nutrifill Contact Solution Recalled?
Contamac Solutions, Inc., which manufactures Nutrifill, received numerous customer complaints about painful, red, irritated, and burning eyes after using the solution. Some of the customers who used it developed infections and corneal ulcers.
Contamac then conducted retesting for sterility and found that lots HFH, HGI, HGN, and HKK failed testing on at least one occasion. The company issued a public notice recall for these lots, stating: “A non-sterile solution with potential bacterial contamination can cause infections that may lead to vision loss if untreated.”
