FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chicago, IL — July 2025 — Meyers & Flowers, a leading Illinois personal injury law firm, has successfully secured a $725,000 truck accident settlement for a woman who suffered a severe concussion and post-concussion syndrome when a truck failed to stop at a two-way stop sign and crashed into her vehicle. The settlement, 50 times the initial offer of $14,000, was reached through the collaborative efforts of Meyers & Flowers attorneys Craig D. Brown and Nicholas I. Flowers, alongside attorney Dean G. Chionis of Law Offices of Dean G. Chionis.
The accident took place in the fall of 2022 when our client, driving eastbound, was struck on the driver’s side by a truck traveling southbound through an intersection. The truck driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign and failed to reduce speed, resulting in a violent collision that shoved our client’s car across the road and into a ditch. Her vehicle was totaled, and she sustained a severe concussion and post concussive syndrome that continues to cause headaches on a regular basis.
Initially only diagnosed with a shoulder sprain at the emergency room, our client soon began to suffer severe neurological symptoms consistent with a traumatic brain injury. Over the following months, she endured chronic migraines, persistent hand numbness, light sensitivity, and significant disruptions to her daily life. Despite extensive treatments, including medications, physical therapy, and pain management, she struggled for nearly two years to regain some stability in her health.
“From the beginning, our client was committed to her recovery despite the physical and emotional toll of this accident,” said Craig Brown, partner at Meyers & Flowers. “Her strength through this long medical journey was nothing short of remarkable, and we are proud to have fought for a result that reflects the gravity of what she’s endured.”
The plaintiff, a dedicated school principal and coach, was forced to drastically modify her work environment and eventually give up coaching due to the severity of her post-accident symptoms. Even with significant improvements following specialized treatments, her recovery remains delicate, and her life permanently changed.
“This settlement is not just a number—it represents accountability,” added Nick Flowers, associate at Meyers & Flowers. “It ensures that our client has access to the ongoing care she needs and validates the profound impact this crash has had on her life and her family.”
Attorney Dean Chionis, co-counsel on the case, remarked, “Together, we made sure our client’s story was heard and that she was not pressured to accept an extremely low settlement offer in this complex truck accident case.”
