We install air conditioners in our home to provide comfort and relief from the heat. Air conditioners cool and circulate the air in our homes for hours at a time while we sleep, eat, play, work, and relax. We trust the appliance to do its job and give it little thought unless it stops working. However, if an air conditioner unit is defective, it could be silently exposing you and your family to harmful mold spores.
Midea air conditioner units have been recalled because they may fail to drain pooled water quickly enough, which could potentially lead to mold growth. Mold exposure can cause infections and respiratory problems for many consumers.
At Meyers & Flowers Trial Attorneys, our experienced Chicago product liability lawyers have been protecting the rights of injury victims for decades. We have recovered billions of dollars in compensation for our clients, and we are committed to helping those injured by defective products.
If you believe you have been exposed to mold and injured due to a Midea air conditioner unit, you may have the right to seek compensation. Call (630) 394-5189 or visit our contact page and schedule a free consultation to discuss your options.

Why Have Midea Air Conditioner Units Been Recalled?
The Midea air conditioner units were recalled on June 5, 2025 because the pooled water in the units may not drain properly, potentially leading to mold development. This can expose consumers to risks of respiratory issues or other infections due to mold exposure.
There have been at least 152 reports of mold in the units, and 17 reports of consumers experiencing respiratory infections, allergic reactions, sore throats, coughing, and/or sneezing due to mold exposure from the units.
Health Risks of Mold Exposure From Midea Air Conditioner Units
Breathing in mold spores can make you sick. Molds produce microbial volatile organic compounds and can cause allergy symptoms in those sensitive to mold. Mold exposure can also cause a fungal infection in your respiratory system or other parts of your body.
Symptoms of mold exposure include coughing, sneezing, congestion, and eye irritation. Seek medical attention for any signs of illness related to mold exposure.
