$2.8 Million Settlement for Family of Woman who Died After Doctors Failed to Diagnose Cancer

The client complained for two years about problems with rectal bleeding, but during that time, neither of her two doctors ordered the proper tests to find the source of her problems.

She was later found to have rectal cancer, which claimed the 40-year-old woman’s life within another two years of the diagnosis.

Attorneys Pete Flowers and Craig Brown filed a medical negligence claim against Patricia Merlo and Farzana Hosain - the doctors who failed to catch the cancer in a timely manner - and Sherman Hospital, where they worked.

A $2.8 million settlement was obtained the day trial was to start in Chicago.
